Job Summary

Evaluate automated weld quality, perform cut-and-etch testing, and diagnose defects like lack of penetration or porosity to determine root causes. Adjust welding parameters including voltage, travel speed, and torch angle based on coupon results to achieve consistent, production-quality welds. Troubleshoot issues related to tooling, material condition, or robot positioning while collaborating with programmers and quality personnel to optimize processes. Document settings and corrective actions to support continuous improvement and establish repeatable welding procedures for manufacturing operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on background in welding engineering, weld process development, or automated/robotic welding
  • Strong understanding of GMAW/MIG welding processes
  • Experience performing and interpreting weld coupon and cut-and-etch testing
  • Ability to visually inspect welds and recognize acceptable and unacceptable weld conditions
  • Strong understanding of cause and effect when changing welding parameters
  • Ability to troubleshoot weld quality issues and make effective process adjustments
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work hands-on with production equipment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting robotic welding systems
  • Automotive, structural, fabrication, or high-volume automated manufacturing experience
