Weld Engineer

Job Summary
Assign and control welding procedure specifications (WPS/PQR) and quality logs for GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW, and SMAW processes in compliance with ASME IX, EN 15614-1/2, AWS D1.1, and EN 9606-1/2 standards. Identify and resolve production issues related to design, quality, and fabrication while specifying equipment purchases and generating activity reports for shop floor improvements. Manage training needs and process implementation to support Theodore, Alabama facility operations. Requires a BS degree in engineering, minimum three years of shop production experience, and familiarity with statistical control and NDE basics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum BS degree in Weld Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Sciences
- Minimum 3 years' experience as Weld Engineer in shop production or field construction
- Familiarity with fundamentals of statistical control
- Familiarity with all aspects of the GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW and SMAW weld processes as related to aluminum, stainless and carbon steel welding
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, Word and weld programs such as C-Spec
- Demonstrated management and leadership training or demonstrated management abilities
- Familiarity with NDE basics including RT, UT, LPT, MPT and VT
