Job Summary
Accurately identify, sort, and weigh inbound nonferrous materials while documenting customer information into the ticketing system. Provide precise receipts for delivered materials and educate customers on documentation requirements, pricing, and accepted material types. Process payments, balance cash drawers, and verify numerical amounts against transactions before issuing computer-generated receipts. Complete and submit all required reports, maintain accurate records of daily activities, and perform general housekeeping duties in the scale house and office areas. This fast-paced role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in varying weather conditions. Bilingual (English & Spanish) language skills are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years' experience operating truck scales, preferably in a scrap metal or similar industry
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers and co-workers
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, good organizational and mathematical skills, basic negotiation skills, and the ability to multi-task
- Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn industry specific software
- Must pass Credit and Background Check
- Must pass preemployment Physical and Drug screen
- All US applicants must be 18 years of age or older
