Job Summary
Weekend-focused Capacity Procurement Representative at J.B. Hunt measures and negotiates carrier rates to meet load expectations and maintain margins. The role involves marketing Carrier360 to carriers, establishing a carrier base, ensuring timely freight movement, tendering loads via Carrier360, updating records, communicating service issues to reduce costs, collaborating with internal teams to deliver best-in-class service, verifying carrier authenticity and tracking, and staying informed on market trends to optimize negotiation tactics. Requires negotiation skills, stakeholder communication, logistics knowledge, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and ability to work extended weekend shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED with up to 1 year experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, and/or equivalent military experience
- ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
- Strong professional communication skills
- Experience in establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships
- Experience in customer relationships via delivery on commitments
- Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to analyze situations and make decisions
- Experience in Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Adaptability to dynamic work environment
- Experience in holding people accountable and conducting difficult conversations
- Ability to perform in a stressful and high-pressure work environment
- Bachelor's degree in related field (preferred)
- Up to 1 year experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, and/or equivalent military experience (preferred)
- Weekend schedule 0700-1800 (Friday-Monday)
