Job Summary
Prepare the offset press machine for production by setting substrate, ink, and plate specifications based on job tickets. Operate the equipment within safety standards while monitoring raw material supplies and maintaining constant ink densities. Perform visual quality checks and complete checklists throughout the printing process to ensure customer satisfaction. Execute basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and line clearance duties, including roller changes and machine adjustments during delays. Monitor ink and water balance, track maintenance issues for the next scheduled service, and direct crew members during maintenance windows. Work the 12-hour weekend shift from 5 am to 5 pm with a $2.00 premium, utilizing advanced Heidelberg or K&B equipment to produce packaging for retail and marketing materials.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Lead Sheetfed Operator experience - packaging/printing field preferred
- an understanding of color, and the ability to pass a color test
- strong mechanical skills and aptitude
- ability to lift 10-15 pounds continuously, ability to lift to 50 pounds occasionally, stand long hours (12-hour shift), use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement, receive and follow instructions, and use vision to identify defects
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, with overtime and holidays as required (OT paid over 40 hours per week)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Heidelberg XL 106 6-color or K&B Rapida 106 7-color is desired, but other makes will also be considered
- Machine repair and maintenance experience preferred
