Job Summary
Report, research and write breaking news briefs to fully formed news features across text and video, delivering multimodal storytelling; identify significant headlines, shape angles, and execute narrative ideas for a national audience; develop and maintain sources over time, contribute story ideas in daily coverage, and collaborate with CNN journalists on comprehensive coverage; may be deployed on field assignments to contribute video elements from the field. Requires strong writing, editorial judgment, ability to work under tight deadlines, and comfort with video news gathering while supporting a weekend schedule.
Required Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent industry experience
- 3+ years of progressively complex editorial experience in an integrated newsgathering operation
- Experience reporting and writing under deadline pressure
- Experience in a multimodal/multiplatform news environment
- Comfort with video newsgathering
- Willingness to work weekends
