Job Summary
Deliver medication administration and respiratory care in complex, multiple problem-patient situations within the NICU, focusing on protocol ventilator management and significant independent decision-making. Perform patient assessments, administer aerosolized medications and bronchial hygiene, manage airway procedures including intubation and extubation, and conduct arterial blood gas sampling. Provide patient, family, and support system education while mentoring new employees and students. Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan care, promote evidence-based practice, and ensure high levels of patient safety through accurate charting and medication safety protocols. Requires Registered Respiratory Therapist II license, associate's degree, and 0-2 years of critical care experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science
