Job Summary

Assess and record patient status upon admission, organize health data, and identify immediate care needs. Validate diagnoses with patients and families, initiate problem lists, and develop individualized plans of care aligned with age-specific standards. Prioritize evidence-based nursing interventions, provide patient education, and document all assessments, interventions, and responses. Collaborate with the healthcare team to update plans, review progress, and present information at multidisciplinary meetings. Begin discharge planning at admission and make appropriate referrals to ensure continuity of care. Requires a BSN or ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within three years, plus current Illinois RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS. Weekend part-time schedule at Palos Hospital.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Strong analytic abilities
  • Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role
  • Commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role (for ADN candidates)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in specific clinical area
  • Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS)
  • Emergency Communications Registered Nurse Certified
  • Pediatric Nurse Certified
  • Emergency Nurse Certified
