Job Summary
Pet Care Assistant works with the veterinary medical team to provide and prepare for the best medical care of pets, and to ensure this is provided in a happy, welcoming, friendly and efficient manner, influencing clients to return and refer their friends and families. Responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms with necessary medical supplies, setting up fecals and skin scrapings as allowed by state rules, maintaining the flow of the Cycle of Service, providing client education on preventive care and wellness plans, supporting the Client Services Coordinator, restraining or handling pets during examinations or procedures, performing routine in-house laboratory tests, monitoring hospitalized patients, maintaining hospital cleanliness, and performing other duties as assigned. Strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, organization, problem solving, and delivering high-quality client service in a pet-hospital environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred
- One year of related experience; customer service preferred
- Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography (x-ray) and exposure to radioactive substances
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb; lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to work weekends and evenings
