Job Summary

Provide direct care and supervision to female adolescent residents in residential treatment programs, ensuring basic needs like meals, hygiene, and sleep are met while monitoring activities and whereabouts. Facilitate recreational and social activities, transport residents to medical and counseling appointments, and utilize behavior management techniques to address challenging behaviors. Maintain a physically safe environment by conducting monthly site and safety inspections, fire drills, and safety reviews, while documenting medication administration, incident reports, and progress notes in accordance with facility policies. Work under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, participating in team meetings, shift-change communications, and case reviews. Collaborate with staff to maintain accurate documentation of resident care plans and behavior management strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related fields
  • a combination of at least two years college education and work experience providing mental health or social services
  • high school diploma with at least six years of experience providing mental health or social services
  • 25 years of age
  • Values working in a multicultural/diverse environment
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with a broad variety of people, including other team members and management
  • Ability to work effectively with a team-oriented environment
  • Computer experience and adequate typing ability
  • Ability to provide visual and auditory supervision of residents
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Regularly attend scheduled shifts, be punctual for scheduled shifts and meetings and be in a condition suitable for assuming responsibilities of the position
  • Effectively monitor safety and demonstrate group management skills and effectively deescalate potentially chaotic or volatile situations
  • Stays calm and emotionally available in an environment serving emotionally disturbed youth
  • Openness to feedback and supervision
  • Orientation and Medication Management Training
  • Provides emergency first-aid and maintains a current standard First Aid/CPR certification
  • Must pass a criminal history check
  • Requires driving an agency vehicle, a valid driver's license, personal auto liability insurance, and a driving record permitting coverage under agency auto liability policy
  • Letter from a physician stating that you able to work with children
  • Completion of Behavior Management Training

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with adolescents in a residential or mental health setting or social service
