Job Summary
On-campus role as Weekend English Tutor delivering English Language and English for Academic Purposes across multiple London campuses. Responsibilities include teaching lectures, seminars and tutorials; developing and updating teaching materials; monitoring attendance; supporting assessment design; providing formative feedback and marking summative work to deadlines; monitoring student engagement and signposting academic or pastoral support; contributing to module and programme evaluations and quality assurance processes; engaging in scholarship to maintain up-to-date subject knowledge; collaborating with colleagues, supporting curriculum development, and mentoring junior staff as required. Requires experience teaching English for Academic Purposes in higher or further education, a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., DELTA, Trinity Diploma, CELTA with experience, MA TESOL/Linguistics), strong digital skills (VLEs, Microsoft tools), CEFR understanding, and willingness to travel between London campuses. Part-time, 24 hours per week over three days including Saturday and Sunday, with flexibility to travel to all London-based campuses; criminal records check, two references, ID, Right to Work verification are part of pre-employment checks.
Required Qualifications
- Experience teaching English for Academic Purposes in higher or further education
- Strong communication, organisational and digital skills (including use of VLEs and Microsoft tools)
- Ability to engage and support diverse learners and work effectively within teams
- Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., DELTA, Trinity Diploma, CELTA with experience, MA TESOL/Linguistics)
- Understanding of CEFR and experience supporting student academic development
- Commitment to high academic standards, continuous improvement, and widening participation
- Willingness to work across sites and adapt to changing priorities
