Job Summary
Plan new or modified electrical installations to minimize material waste and ensure future maintenance access while adhering to local codes. Measure, cut, and install conduit; splice wires; connect fixtures and power equipment; and install control apparatus like circuit-breaker panels. Troubleshoot electrical issues, test circuit continuity, and program PLCs to maximize mill production. Cut and weld steel structural members as needed. Work in a physically demanding environment involving machinery, noise, and temperature changes. Full-time, Friday through Monday, 4:00am-2:30pm with potential overtime. Requires Journeyman's license or equivalent experience. Alta Forest Products, the world's largest producer of wood fence boards, operates sawmills in the Pacific and Inland Northwest.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman's license or equivalent
- 3rd and 4th-year electrical apprentices depending on experience
- Modeling, implementing, and complying with all company safety rules and industry standards
- Utilize troubleshooting skills to assist in designing and repairing electrical systems
- Understanding and working with Three-phase systems
- Understanding and working with Controls
- Understanding and working with Transformers
- Understanding and working with Tempo sonic linear positions
- Understanding and working with MCCs
- Understanding and working with Variable Frequency Drives
- Troubleshooting with Allen Bradly PLC processors, series 5, 500, and 5000
- Bending and working with RMC, IMC, and EMT conduit
- Must be able to use and interpret the NEC codebook
- Must be 18 or older
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including climbing and heavy lifting
- Be willing to work weekends and holidays
- Be willing to work both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Sawmill experience
- Experience with hydraulics, welding, and pneumatics
- Familiarity with sawmill optimization and scanning equipment
