Job Summary
Weekend Cook provides essential weekend food service for transitional housing residents by preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals in a safe, sanitary kitchen. Responsibilities include meal preparation and service using standardized recipes, operating commercial kitchen equipment, applying USDA guidelines, developing weekly menus, managing inventory and ordering, maintaining sanitation and proper temperatures, and supporting kitchen operations during weekend shifts. Requires High School diploma or GED, 1-2 years in a commercial kitchen or similar-setting, a Food Handler’s License, and a valid Texas Driver’s License. Must work independently on weekends and contribute to a welcoming dining environment that respects residents rebuilding their lives.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- One to two years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen setting or hospital, school, nursing home environment, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
- Food Handler’s License
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and a clear driving record.
