Job Summary
Perform personal care tasks including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, ambulating, and transferring clients in their residences. Prepare simple meals and assist with eating. Provide companionship through walking, exercising, reading, visiting, and game playing. Manage safety supervision, medication reminders, laundry, light housekeeping, and shopping. Drive clients to appointments or errands when required. Report changes in client condition to the Agency office. Maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance and reliable transportation. Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and criminal background clearance.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Criminal Background Clearance
- TB clearance according to Griswold policy
- At least 3 satisfactory references or employment verifications
- Must have reliable transportation to and from a client's home
- Must have a valid driver's license
- State minimum required liability insurance coverage
- Positive driving record
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to read care plan
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred
- Be able to understand the problems of elderly persons and persons with disabilities
- Demonstrates empathy for vulnerable older adults and values their independence
- Maintain cheerful outlook while with client
- Capable of working independently when needed
- Punctual and hard working
