Job Summary
Conduct seasonal patrolling of roadways, medians, signs, bridges, and tunnels to identify hazards and deficiencies. Perform shift supervision duties during winter maintenance, organizing daily work activities, equipment, and labor while ensuring compliance with safety standards and contractual agreements. Oversee contract staff operations, inspect work for compliance, and advise on traffic control and planning. Maintain administrative records for equipment usage, material consumption, and incident reports. Liaise with property owners, government ministries, and the public to address complaints and promote relations. Respond to emergency circumstances such as accidents or inclement weather, and occasionally operate patrol equipment or perform laboring tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Valid Ontario Class "DZ" Driver's License
- MTO Operator's Permit
- acceptable driving record
- Working knowledge of summer and winter maintenance operations
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Ability to prepare and maintain neat accurate records
- Ability to use software packages for word processing, spreadsheet, database, electronic mail and critical path scheduling applications
- Highly developed sense of safety awareness
- Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks
- Ability to communicate safety instructions with co-workers
- Ability to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industry repair, maintenance or landscaping (outdoor work)
