Job Summary
Conduct seasonal patrol maintenance on roadways, medians, signs, bridges, and tunnels, reporting hazards and deficiencies to the Patrol Supervisor. Assist in organizing daily work activities, arranging equipment and labor, and overseeing operations to ensure value for money and safety compliance. Provide leadership and safety training to junior staff, inspect contract staff performance, and advise on traffic control and planning. Complete administrative records for equipment hours, material usage, and incident reports, while monitoring weekly work plans. Liaise with property owners, the public, and government ministries to maintain relations and resolve complaints. Occasionally operate patrol equipment or perform laboring tasks as needed, responding to emergencies such as accidents or inclement weather.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Valid Ontario Class "DZ" Driver's License
- MTO Operator's Permit
- acceptable driving record
- Working knowledge of summer and winter maintenance operations
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Ability to prepare and maintain neat accurate records
- Ability to use software packages for word processing, spreadsheet, database, electronic mail and critical path scheduling applications
- Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks
- Ability to communicate safety instructions with co-workers
- Ability to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using tools and equipment, while driving or operating equipment
- Highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability
- Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industry repair, maintenance or landscaping (outdoor work)
