Job Summary
Conduct daily patrols of roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, bridges, and tunnels to report hazards and deficiencies. Perform shift supervisor duties during winter maintenance by organizing work activities, arranging equipment and labor, and ensuring operations meet safety standards and value-for-money goals. Oversee contract staff, inspect work for compliance, and provide leadership and training on safety techniques. Manage administrative records including equipment hours, material usage, and expense reports while assisting in work plan preparation. Liaise with property owners, the public, and government ministries to maintain relations and ensure regulatory compliance. Respond to emergency circumstances such as accidents, spills, or inclement weather, occasionally operating patrol equipment or carrying out laboring tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Valid Ontario Class "DZ" Driver's License
- MTO Operator's Permit
- acceptable driving record
- Working knowledge of summer and winter maintenance operations
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Ability to prepare and maintain neat accurate records
- Ability to use software packages for word processing, spreadsheet, database, electronic mail and critical path scheduling applications
- Highly developed sense of safety awareness

- Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks
- Ability to communicate safety instructions with co-workers
- Ability to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings

- Ability to drive or operate equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industry repair, maintenance or landscaping (outdoor work)
