Job Summary

Maintain and repair highway surfaces, signs, guardrails, and vegetation while operating heavy equipment such as tractors, graders, and snow removal machinery. Execute surface and right-of-way maintenance, including pothole repair, reflector replacement, and slope control. Perform traffic control setup and removal, transport crew and equipment to work sites, and respond to emergency rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work in varying weather conditions while adhering to all safety protocols and operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Ontario Class DZ driver's license or higher
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Successful completion of training in traffic control methods
  • Successful completion of training in first aid
  • Successful completion of training in transportation of dangerous goods
  • Successful completion of training in WHMIS
  • Successful completion of training in job-related aspects of Occupational Health
  • Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair, maintenance or highway infrastructure
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers' safety instructions
  • Ability to think clearly and focus on safety in immediate surroundings while using tools, equipment, driving, or operating equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions
  • Ability to consistently follow all policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to work in an environment in which demands and priorities change rapidly
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job
  • Required to be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair, maintenance or highway infrastructure (preferred)
