Job Summary

Conduct on-site inspections of generation and transmission facilities to verify compliance with Texas Administrative Code and ERCOT Nodal Protocols. Perform physical equipment checks, review weatherization work orders and maintenance records, and identify non-compliance areas requiring corrective action. Coordinate site visits, generate detailed inspection reports, and monitor emergency preparedness reliability standards. Serve as a departmental representative on cross-functional teams, lead internal audits, and mentor less experienced inspectors. Maintain regular communication with facility owners and the weatherization team to ensure all applicable standards and safety requirements are met.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 5 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
Must be located in or willing to relocate to Houston, TX or Victoria, TX area
Must be able to walk, climb stairs and ladders, stand for prolonged periods of time, and access power plant, transmission facilities, and other industrial facilities while wearing appropriate PPE
Ability to gain clearance for escorted and/or unescorted access for plant visits and inspections as needed
Hold and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License
Have an acceptable driving record
Have a reliable personal vehicle
Must have dependable access to the internet
Must be able to travel up to 75% for multiple days at a time
Must be able to work independently, interact professionally with internal and external personnel of various position levels from individual contributors to senior management, meet deadlines, and work well within a team environment
Must become Certified under ERCOT's Weatherization Inspector Training Program
Must complete annual continuing education/training requirements
Must understand applicable standards and guiding principles for inspection strategies
Must develop and maintain a good understanding of the ERCOT competitive energy markets

Must be able to conduct site visits for generation and transmission compliance inspections/audits which include physical inspection of equipment and verification of compliance by reviewing weatherization and maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance records and checklists
Must be able to maintain regular communication with the weatherization team providing relevant information and line of sight on work activities to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements
Must be able to suggest solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of inspection activities
Must be able to collaborate to help create the timeline for mitigation, corrective action, and re-inspection if necessary
Must be able to provide on the job training or help oversee the work of others
Must be able to participate in RFP's and vendor/consultant management services
Must be able to continuously improve working knowledge of the market, power systems, and various types of technologies used by Market Participants within the ERCOT market
Must be able to proactively provide technical, business, and policy guidance
Must be able to identify areas of potential non-compliance
Must be able to request mitigation and corrective action
Must be able to verify remedial work has been completed
Must be able to monitor and determine whether weather emergency preparedness reliability standards are met
Must be able to ensure ERCOT meets its obligations in accordance with regulatory requirements to perform generation and transmission weatherization and maintenance compliance inspections/audits for Texas power plants and transmission facilities in compliance with the requirements of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) and ERCOT Nodal Protocols
Must be able to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid under extreme cold and hot weather conditions
