Job Summary
Design and maintain drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting systems while documenting implementation steps for replicable toolkits. Deliver hands-on workshops on sustainable water management and drought mitigation to BIPOC farmers and youth, supporting curriculum design for the Rising Roots program. Track system performance, conduct feedback sessions, and develop how-to guides and best-practice documentation. Participate in community events and collaborate with partners like the Pierce Conservation District and WSU Extension to strengthen peer-to-peer learning. This temporary, 20-40 hour/week stipend role ($18/hour) requires hands-on outdoor work and a commitment to climate justice, offering mentorship and networking with regional climate leaders.
Required Qualifications
- Commitment to climate justice and environmental equity
- Ability to perform hands-on outdoor work
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Interest in agriculture, sustainability, or environmental justice
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in gardening/farming
- Lived or professional experience within BIPOC or overburdened communities
- Experience working in or with BIPOC-led organizations
- Experience teaching or leading youth/volunteers
- Familiarity with irrigation or green infrastructure concepts
