Waterfront Technician

Job Summary
Prepare docking sites in land bays or dry docks, including vessel positioning, haul-outs, and blocking operations. Assist with vessel mooring, line handling, and overall waterfront support while operating power tools for maintenance, repair, and assembly work. Measure and mark vessel blocking locations to ensure proper drydock placement and alignment. Support small boat operations and high-risk vessel evolutions with proper guidance and supervision. Maintain a safe and clean work environment around heavy equipment and vessels while adhering to ISO and OSHA policies. This 1st shift role (Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM) is part of Fincantieri Marine Systems North America's mission to build, repair, and sustain maritime vessels.
Required Qualifications
- Must be proficient with measuring and marking for vessel blocking
- Ability to safely operate power tools and maintenance equipment
- Ability to perform line handling with vessel lines for mooring and vessel support activities
- Ability to operate and maintain small boats, forklifts, manlifts, and a travel lift
- Ability to work in inclement weather (cold, hot, rain, snow, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
- Must have basic organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
- Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMSNA and have high values for safety awareness
- Journeyman, Technical, or Associate's degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 2 Years of waterfront experience
- Have or are willing to obtain Forklift, Manlift, and/or Travel Lift Operation certifications
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35lbs regularly and up to 50lbs occasionally
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and at varying heights
- Must be able to wear PPE to minimize noise exposure, moving machinery, weather elements, and other potential hazards
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to operate and maintain small boats, forklifts, manlifts, and a travel lift preferred
- 2 Years of waterfront experience preferred
