Job Summary
Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Planning Leader in California: Lead business development and execution of hydraulic modeling and system planning projects for Black & Veatch’s Distribution & Collection System Planning practice. Responsibilities include identifying and pursuing CA market opportunities, building client relationships, leading proposal and project interviews, and serving as the client-facing Project Manager for water distribution and wastewater studies. Leverage cutting-edge hydraulic modeling, GIS, asset management data, and data visualization to evaluate capacity, resilience, and capital improvement programs; identify and hire talent to grow execution teams; collaborate with national planning professionals to deliver integrated solutions. Required: 11+ years of infrastructure assessment experience with hydraulic modeling and master planning, PE licensure, Bachelor's degree in engineering, strong client-facing and communication skills, and proficiency with GIS and modeling tools (InfoWorks/ICM, WaterGEMS/SewerGEMS, EPANET/EPASWMM, PCSWMM); willingness to work in CA hybrid offices (Sacramento, San Jose, Walnut Creek).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Active engineering registration or licensure (Professional Engineer)
- 11+ years related infrastructure experience including hydraulic modeling, master planning, and data analysis
- Experience leading technical tasks and project teams; client-facing project experience in water and wastewater domains
- Proficiency with GIS (e.g., ArcGIS) and data visualization tools (PowerBI)
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software (InfoWorks, ICM, WaterGEMS/SewerGEMS, EPANet, EPASWMM, PCSWMM)
- Ability to develop proposals and lead technical discussions during client interviews/projects
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience with asset management and condition assessment; willingness to support CIP prioritization
- Ability to work in hybrid/office-based environment in CA (Sacramento, San Jose, Walnut Creek)
