Job Summary
Operate an articulated water truck underground to apply water for dust suppression and road conditioning while maintaining proper moisture levels on haul roads and travel ways. Monitor roadway and ground conditions to report hazards such as ruts, potholes, or ground deterioration to supervision. Conduct pre-, mid-, and post-shift inspections of the water truck and refill water tanks, ensuring spray systems, hoses, and nozzles function properly. Identify and document mechanical or safety concerns with equipment and communicate effectively with supervisors using radio systems. Follow all MSHA regulations, mine policies, and site-specific procedures while maintaining situational awareness of employees and mobile equipment in confined spaces. Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned and work independently with limited supervision in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Dedication to safe work practices
- Ability to safely operate equipment in tight, low-clearance, underground environments
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment
- Ability to climb on and off equipment using ladders, handrails, steps, etc
- Must be able to push, pull, or lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions to include hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and low-light underground conditions
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours as needed
- Able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document
- Pass pre-employment drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience operating a articulated truck is preferred but not required
- Experience operating additional heavy equipment (dozer, water truck, loader, scaler, etc.) is strongly preferred but not required
