Job Summary
Operate and maintain the Texarkana Water Utilities Public Water System (PWS) at the GPI-Texarkana Mill, ensuring compliance with state and federal drinking water regulations. Monitors treatment process in the plant control room, collects samples and performs chemical tests/analysis (e.g., residual chlorine, pH, temperature, alum dosage, color), adjusts chemical dosages, inspects valves and pumps, prepares daily logs and reports for mill and regulatory agencies, maintains records, and enters data into the computer. Performs housekeeping of equipment and grounds, may be called after hours to respond to emergencies, and must lift up to 40 lbs. Ensures compliance with water quality regulations and safety standards; communicates with supervision and maintenance regarding daily water quality issues.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- A valid Class C or Class B Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator’s license OR a valid Class C Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator’s license within two years of hire
- Knowledge of mill safety policies and procedures
- Proficient in basic computer use
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Must pass drug test and background check
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Work rotating shift schedule
- Work in adverse environmental conditions
