Job Summary
Water Treatment System Operator responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of temporary and permanent water treatment systems supporting environmental remediation, mine water management, construction dewatering, and industrial wastewater treatment projects. Field-based role with travel throughout Ontario, including remote northern mine sites and rotational work schedules. Responsibilities include operating filtration, clarification, chemical treatment, membrane systems, and pumping systems; performing inspections, sampling, testing, and preventative maintenance; documenting data and regulatory reporting; coordinating with project managers and technical staff; ensuring compliance with environmental permits and site specifications; and maintaining safety, quality, and client relations at project sites. Skills include strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and the ability to work independently in demanding field environments, with willingness to stay in remote camps and travel as required.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Environmental Technology, Water/Wastewater Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Science, Chemical Technology, or a related discipline
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
- 2–5 years of experience operating industrial, construction, mine water, or environmental water treatment systems
- Experience working in field environments and outdoor conditions
- Experience collecting environmental samples and maintaining operational records
