Job Summary
The Water Treatment Plant Lead/Chief Operator will oversee the water treatment plant and distribution system, responsible for supervising staff and ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include monitoring water operations, conducting sampling and testing, managing equipment maintenance, and addressing compliance issues. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields, significant experience in water treatment operations, and appropriate operator certifications. Proficiency in MS Office is needed, along with strong knowledge of water treatment principles and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- Current/valid operator’s certificate equivalent to an FDEP Class A or B
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of water supply, treatment, and distribution systems
- Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science
- Minimum of a Class II wastewater treatment plant operator certification or equivalent
- Minimum of a Class B water treatment plant operator (Level 3) certification or equivalent
- Knowledge of water treatment principles, processes, and regulatory standards (EPA, DEP, or local equivalents)
- Valid social security card, driver’s license, and birth certificate
- US Passport with minimum one plus year validity remaining
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Familiar with environmental and Water Treatment related programs
- OSHA safety and First Aid/CPR certifications
