Job Summary
Drive the expansion of JMT's water resources practice in the Hampton Roads area through strategic business development and client relationship building. Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of water resources professionals while providing coaching and succession planning. Oversee technical excellence in stormwater management, drainage, and erosion control design, ensuring adherence to quality processes and Virginia regulatory requirements. Manage the financial performance of the group, including budgeting, staffing, and profitability alignment. Shape the future of the firm's Water Resources practice in a high-growth region while collaborating across regional offices and engaging with industry leaders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in water resources engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proven experience in project management, team leadership, and business development
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications
- Expertise in Virginia stormwater regulations, MS4 programs, TMDL implementation, drainage design, stormwater management, and erosion & sediment control
- Experience in transportation-related water resources design and evaluation
- Proficiency with industry tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, ORD, HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar
- Demonstrated success leading teams and managing staff performance
- Experience working with Virginia-based clients and agencies at the county and state level
- Experience working with the City of Virginia Beach and other Hampton Roads municipalities and counties
- Experience working with Virginia agencies, including: VDEQ, VDCR, and VDOT
