Job Summary
Perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses using tools such as HEC-RAS, SWMM-based software, and GIS to evaluate river stability and floodplain inundation. Prepare floodplain maps, hazard assessments, and technical reports for municipal planning and infrastructure design. Support river restoration, bank stabilization, and erosion mitigation projects while conducting field assessments and RTK GPS surveys. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce design drawings, cost estimates, and proposal submissions for water resources challenges across Ontario.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Registered as, or eligible to become, an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT), with the goal of obtaining professional registration
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and communication skills
- A valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a vehicle
- Candidates must be physically able to conduct field work commensurate with project requirements. This may include handling survey equipment, travelling to remote locations by vehicle, boat, aircraft, or on foot, and working outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM)
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS or ArcGIS Pro)
- Experience with Civil 3D
- Experience with river restoration, natural channel design, erosion hazard assessment, or bioengineering
- Experience conducting geomorphic assessments
- Experience operating RTK GPS equipment
- Experience in consulting engineering or environmental consulting
