Job Summary
The Water Quality Compliance Coordinator supports the safe, compliant operation of the university’s water systems by coordinating routine and regulatory-driven water quality sampling, reviewing and distributing laboratory results, and maintaining complete, traceable records to support audits and regulatory reporting under SDWA and CWA. The role collaborates with operations, compliance, and technical teams, develops SOPs and training activities, and ensures accurate data management and communication to stakeholders while maintaining on-site presence. This role requires a daily on-site attendance, a valid driver’s license, and compliance with safety and environmental policies. The compensation range is $63,300–$96,945 annually, with eligibility for incentives and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Water Technology, Environmental Science, or a related field; or an associate’s degree with Grade III Iowa DNR Operator Certification in Water Treatment and extensive laboratory experience
- minimum of five (5) years of experience in water sampling, field testing, or environmental and utility laboratory coordination
- valid U.S. driver’s license with clean driving record
- on-site presence required daily
- experience interpreting federal, state, and local regulatory requirements governing drinking water and environmental compliance
- hands-on experience with calibration, validation, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory and field testing equipment
- ability to manage multiple sampling schedules, datasets, and regulatory deliverables with high accuracy
- experience developing SOPs and standardizing sampling and record management practices
- strong documentation and recordkeeping skills
- proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and structured tracking systems
- ability to clearly communicate technical information to operational, compliance, and regulatory audiences
- willingness to comply with ENGIE ethics, safety, and environmental policies
- exposure to varying weather conditions
