Job Summary
Operates wastewater treatment equipment and controls pumps, valves, and chemical dosing to regulate water flow and clarify wastewater. Tests water samples for acidity and impurities, performs maintenance such as filter media changes and sludge removal, and ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental laws. Maintains safety and housekeeping, monitors for spills, and collaborates with internal/external customers. The role requires independent work and teamwork, the ability to read and interpret basic chemistry and environmental guidelines, and union eligibility after 30 days. Schedule includes 3:00pm–11:30pm with a 12-on/2-off cycle; hourly wage is $23.00. Authorized to work in the United States; benefits include medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, life insurance, 401(k), pensions, holidays, vacation, and sick time.
Required Qualifications
- High School or Equivalent
- 1 to 2 years’ experience with wastewater treatment preferred
- Must be able to pass preemployment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screenings
- Must be able to obtain “Operator in Training Certification” from State of Washington Department of Ecology
- Must be able to understand and apply basic principles of chemistry (i.e. pH, acids/bases)
- Must pass classwork in RCRA and DOT
- Must be able to join Union upon completion of 30 days of employment
- Authorized to work for any employer in the United States of America
