Water Plant Operator

Job Summary
Conduct routine lab tests for turbidity, pH, chlorine residual, and alkalinity while operating and monitoring treatment plant processes including coagulation, flocculation, and disinfection. Maintain department equipment, adjust chemical feed rates, and use SCADA and PLC systems to respond to alarms promptly. Perform maintenance on water plant facilities, groundskeeping duties, and work on water lines within the plant. Troubleshoot mechanical, chemical, and electrical problems independently while making decisions on prioritizing safety and daily assignments. Operate pumps, motors, tractors, and lawn equipment under the supervision of the Water Plant Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Kansas driver's license
- Knowledge of mechanics
- Knowledge of mathematics
- Ability to operate pumps
