Water Operator I

Job Summary
Operate and maintain equipment in water treatment facilities, including valves, pumps, motors, belt presses, and disinfection equipment. Conduct routine testing, monitoring, and documentation of production wells, water/wastewater unit processes, and basic laboratory analyses; document plant performance and chemical usage. Respond to call-outs and after-hours emergencies to repair equipment; ensure facilities are clean, neat, and secure; provide customer service when necessary. Comply with regulatory rules and site-specific requirements; follow SOPs and safety practices. Shift includes Sundays through Saturdays with willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and be on-call. Must display willingness to study prerequisites to obtain water or wastewater certification; possession of relevant licenses and basic computer skills recommended. Equal Opportunity Employer. Required Qualifications
- Surface Water Operator license or above required
- Knowledge of regulatory rules is essential
- Previous water or wastewater treatment experience is desirable
- Completion of water or wastewater correspondence courses is very desirable
- Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred). Water/Wastewater Operator’s License specific to state and site-specific requirements.
