Job Summary
Inspect Zenner water meters daily, locate and test disassembled units, and perform repairs on hydrant meters, black flow preventers, and registers. Replace parts, clean components, and execute preventive maintenance while rebuilding and reassembling meters. Respond to customer complaints by checking for leaks, performing flow checks, taking water samples, and flushing for quality issues. Investigate and remove illegal unauthorized meter connections. Update the Zenner portal daily and complete log sheets, service orders, and required reports. Possess a valid Texas driver's license and a TECQ "D" Public Water System Operator License.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Texas State Driver's License or obtain one within six months of hire
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and random screenings while employed
- Must obtain a TECQ 'D' Public Water System Operator License within one (1) year of date of hire
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to inspect meters to determine repairs needed
- Good vision to inspect repair work
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
