Water Conservation Inspector

Job Summary
Conduct on-site inspections to validate rebates, identify water waste, and assess irrigation inefficiencies across residential, commercial, and public properties. Investigate complaints and violations related to water usage, document findings, issue notices of violation, and recommend corrective actions. Educate property owners, managers, and contractors on conservation techniques while collaborating with utility departments and code enforcement teams. Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and stay current on local ordinances and drought restrictions. Flexible full and part-time schedules available from 10 to 40 hours per week, with day, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- clean driving record
- Ability to interpret and apply municipal codes and environmental regulations
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's in Environmental Science, Horticulture, or related field
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, plumbing fixtures, and water-efficient technologies
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish)
- Experience in water conservation, irrigation inspection, code enforcement, or related fields
- GIS or mobile inspection software experience
- Public outreach or community education experience
