Job Summary
Plans, implements, and coordinates water and wastewater projects and studies within the Region of Waterloo. Uses GIS-integrated data tools and hydraulic models to monitor and analyse sanitary sewer and water distribution systems; creates and maintains asset inventories and supports development plan applications with data-driven analyses. Coordinates RFQ/RFP processes, reviews consultant work plans, and collaborates with area municipalities on projects. Demonstrates strong proficiency in GIS, hydraulic modelling (InfoWater Pro/InfoWorks ICM), asset management, data analysis, and reporting, and communicates findings to councils, staff, consultants, and the public. Must be able to travel within the Region and work with interdepartmental teams, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure reliable water supply and wastewater services. Maintains databases, conducts audits, and prepares technical documentation, reports, and meeting materials; participates in public information centres and supports budget and contract activities.
Required Qualifications
- 3-year college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or university degree in a related field
- Membership/eligibility for membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) at the Technologist level
- Experience with water and wastewater systems similar to those operated by the Region
- Knowledge of hydraulics, computerized water and wastewater modeling, GIS, asset management principles, and project management
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and data reporting tools
- Ability to travel within Waterloo Region
- Ability to prepare reports and coordinate with municipalities and consultants
- Knowledge of legislation and standards related to water/wastewater engineering and development planning
