Job Summary
Develop and deliver engaging lessons on water treatment, wastewater collection systems, safety protocols, and environmental regulations. Introduce participants to concepts including the water cycle, water quality testing, equipment operation, and OSHA safety procedures. Integrate demonstrations and simulations to connect theory with hands-on learning while reinforcing career readiness skills. Collaborate with the Executive Program Director to align curriculum with pre-apprenticeship standards and industry certifications. Coordinate with industry partners for site visits and guest speakers, and assist with safety planning for training environments. Provide individualized academic and career guidance to participants, offering constructive feedback to help them meet performance goals. Assess progress through quizzes and practical demonstrations, maintaining accurate records and submitting periodic reports on outcomes and instructional improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Environmental Science, Water Resources, Engineering Technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in water or wastewater treatment operations, distribution, or related field
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Florida Class C (or higher) Water or Wastewater Operator License
- Prior teaching, training, or mentorship experience in a technical or vocational setting
- In-depth knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes, safety practices, and environmental regulations
- Strong communication and instructional skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
- Commitment to fostering diversity and encouraging women's participation in the skilled trades
- Proficiency in using digital tools for presentations, assessments, and reporting
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently and collaboratively
