Job Summary
Operate, adjust, and monitor valves, pumps, motors, digesters, and filtration equipment while collecting wastewater samples to perform chemical and biological tests for pH, chlorine residual, suspended solids, and B.O.D. Document gauge and meter readings, maintain logs of daily flows and chemical usage, and perform preventive maintenance on pumps, piping, and chemical feeders. Address plant alarms, power outages, and equipment malfunctions while following stringent environmental and safety regulations to ensure the plant meets local, state, and federal standards. Shifts are days, 40+ hours weekly, with work often involving weekends, nights, and overtime as facilities must be monitored around the clock. A company car is provided only with a clean driving record.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Class D waste water plant license for the state of MO
- Mechanical aptitude
- Reading comprehension
- Strong problem-solving
- Baseline knowledge of algebra
- Baseline knowledge of chemistry
- Must be able to lift heavy objects (frequently 20 to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs)
- Must be able to stoop
- Must be able to crawl
- Must be able to climb
- Must be able to tolerate variable weather conditions
- Must be available for weekends
- Must be available for nights
- Must be available for overtime
- Must be available for shifts around the clock
- Must have a clean driving record
