Job Summary
Lead the operation, maintenance, and optimization of a wastewater pretreatment facility with a focus on regulatory compliance, process efficiency, and safety. Responsibilities include overseeing influent reception, chemical oxidation, precipitation, and dissolved air flotation processes; monitoring process data and implementing corrective actions; coordinating preventive/corrective maintenance; ensuring OSHA compliance; managing budgets, contracts, and procurement; guiding hiring, training, and performance evaluations; and communicating with regulatory bodies and senior management. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field, 5–10+ years of supervisory wastewater experience, Illinois Class K certification eligibility or attainment, strong leadership and budgeting abilities, and proficiency with SCADA, CMMS, and analytical laboratory practices. Location: Peoria, Illinois. No visa sponsorship; valid work authorization required. Final selection by recruiting team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent technical experience)
- Extensive hands-on experience managing industrial or municipal wastewater treatment operations (5–10+ years), with supervisory roles
- Possession of ability to readily obtain a valid Illinois Class K treatment operator certification for Industrial Wastewater Treatment and Pretreatment
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and discharge permit compliance
- Strong leadership, budgeting, and communication skills
- Experience with SCADA systems, laboratory analytics, and effluent testing protocols
- Familiarity with occupational hazards and safety precautions in water treatment facilities
