Wastewater Treatment Operator

Job Summary
Operate the waste treatment system to ensure compliance with EPA, PADEP, and local regulations by adjusting chemicals, valves, pumps, and filtration equipment safely. Conduct periodic system checks, record operational data, and maintain accurate logs while repairing and maintaining equipment to preserve system integrity. Assist with environmental projects, waste collection, and inspections, reporting non-conforming materials or unusual conditions to supervision. Adhere to all safety rules, wear required personal protective equipment, and keep the work area clean and orderly. Perform duties during self-paced 8-hour shifts, including overtime and Fridays as required, while lifting up to 150 lbs and working in varying temperatures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Able to lift and carry 60 pounds
- Functional near, far and peripheral vision
- Functional hearing
- Basic computer skills
- Base level understanding of wastewater treatment systems
- Able to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions
- Possess basic mathematical skills
- Possess mechanical aptitude
- Able to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week and Fridays) as required
- Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
- Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
- Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods
- Able to obtain WWTP Operator license within two years of employment
Desired Qualifications
- 1+ years' experience with basic electrical systems, compressors, welding, plumbing, conveyers, hydraulics, packaging, PLC, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and pumps
