Job Summary
Operate the waste treatment system to ensure compliance with EPA, PADEP, and local regulations by adjusting chemicals, valves, pumps, and filtration equipment safely. Conduct periodic system checks, record operational data, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to preserve reliability. Assist with environmental projects, waste collection, and inspections while reporting non-conforming materials or unusual conditions to supervision. Maintain accurate records, follow all safety policies, and keep the work area clean. Work 8-hour shifts with potential overtime on Fridays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Able to lift and carry 60 pounds
- Functional near, far and peripheral vision
- Functional hearing
- Basic computer skills
- Base level understanding of wastewater treatment systems
- Able to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions
- Possess basic mathematical skills
- Possess mechanical aptitude
- Able to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week and Fridays) as required
- Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
- Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
- Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods
Desired Qualifications
- 1+ years' experience with basic electrical systems, compressors, welding, plumbing, conveyers, hydraulics, packaging, PLC, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and pumps
- Able to obtain WWTP Operator license within two years of employment
