Job Summary
Monitor, analyze, and adjust facility operations through observation, sample testing, and SCADA usage to ensure compliant and efficient wastewater treatment. Lead by example while training, mentoring staff, and coordinating maintenance procedures for treatment assets and lift stations. Troubleshoot equipment issues during emergencies or scheduled shutdowns, responding to abnormal conditions and reporting problems to appropriate personnel. Maintain thorough logs, ensure asset condition meets safety standards, and perform general housekeeping, screenings cleaning, and shipment monitoring. Drive District vehicles as required for business operations.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED
- Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Class B Wastewater Treatment Operator's License
- minimum of three (3) years of experience in wastewater treatment or suitable relevant experience
- valid Texas Driver's License
- knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, compliance requirements, operations and maintenance requirements, and reporting/record keeping
- ability to troubleshoot wastewater equipment and processes and perform wastewater tests and interpret results
- ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with supervisors, peers, and subordinates
- basic computer skills
- electrical and mechanical knowledge
- ability to perceive/discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth and visual cues or signals
- visual and muscular dexterity to operate a motor vehicle (including while towing portable equipment), equipment, hand tools, and a computer
- ability to wear and work using personal protective equipment (PPE) that meet or exceed guidelines such as established by OSHA
- ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders and rooftops, and in adverse weather conditions with appropriate training
- ability to perform functions requiring manual dexterity and precision movements, continuous or repetitive arm and hand movements, grasping movements, and occasional forceful exertion
- ability to sit (up to 6 hours per day)
- ability to perform frequent standing
- ability to perform frequent walking
- ability to perform light to heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs.)
- ability to perform light carrying
- ability to perform frequent bending and reaching
- ability to perform keyboarding
- ability to perform telephone operation

- ability to work in moderate to heavy exposure to sun, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, biological hazards, rain, temperature and noise extremes
- ability to work in hazardous environments requiring the physical ability to wear and work using personal protective equipment (PPE)
- ability to respond to emergencies
- ability to schedule and coordinate responses, repairs, clean-up, and remediation
- ability to maintain facility grounds and perform general housekeeping
- ability to receive shipments, monitor unloading processes, check shipment documents for accuracy, and ensure documents are submitted to appropriate personnel
- ability to comply with applicable policies and procedures
- ability to assume the responsibilities of direct supervisor(s) and subordinates as required
