Job Summary
Assist Collections Operators with sewer cleaning, clearing, rodding equipment, and collection system repairs, including bar screen facility maintenance and weekly preventive checks. Perform Activity Hazard Analysis and Pre-Task Planning, read sewer maps and O&M manuals, and diagnose simple wastewater collection system problems. Maintain maintenance records using a CMMS system and develop spreadsheets in Word and Excel. Respond to callouts during a weekly on-call rotation (Fri 3:30 PM – following Fri 3:30 PM) once trained. Obtain NJDEP C1 Collections License within two years of hire. Requires valid Class B CDL, ability to lift 50 lbs, and work in confined spaces and varied weather.
Required Qualifications
- CDL Class B license required at time of hire
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout an 8-hour shift
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and environmental conditions
- Must obtain NJDEP Collections C1 License within 2 years of hire
- Must join weekly on-call rotation once trained
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of collection system tools, equipment, and materials
- Prior experience in water, wastewater, or collections operations
- OSHA training — Confined Space Entry and Lockout/Tagout
- NJDEP C1 Operators License already obtained
