Job Summary
Assist classroom teachers with educational activities, community settings, and instructional materials while reinforcing skills taught and supervising students in assigned areas. Follow behavior management plans, implement Individual Education Plans, and address physical and health supports such as feeding and toileting as needed. Maintain student behavior logs, chart performance data, organize work folders, and supervise students during bus loading/unloading, lunch, and playground activities. Clarify teacher directions and provide physical support for students with disabilities under building principal or teacher direction. Maintain confidentiality and foster harmonious relationships with students, parents, staff, and administrators to promote an orderly instructional environment.
Required Qualifications
- Initiative to be a self-starter
- Intuitive to the needs of the student
- Ability to work well with classroom teacher, support staff, administrators, AEA, and parents of student as part of an educational team
- Ability to be flexible in assignment given
- Ability to use good judgment when unexpected problems arise
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children preferred but not required
