Job Summary
Monitor, update, and track all liner inventory across the nursery's field and greenhouse locations on a weekly basis using a tablet-based system. Identify plants by common and genus names, count stock, and grade health, quality, and maturity while accurately reporting pests and diseases to the IPM team. Help the Grow team maintain and label trays, ensuring all work meets company safety and quality standards. Perform duties in adverse weather, including temperatures below freezing and above 100°F, while walking uneven terrain and lifting up to 800 lbs. Work long shifts standing for 95% of the time with minimal sitting, utilizing LEAN principles to improve workflow and productivity.
Required Qualifications
- Utilizes a tablet-based inventory system & other Walla Walla Nursery websites
- Identifies plants based on common and genus name
- Counts liner inventory in field and greenhouse locations across the entire nursery
- Updates and confirms inventory numbers on a weekly basis
- Able to accurately identify common pests/diseases and report them to IPM team
- Able to grade plants health, quality, and maturity
- Help Grow team maintain and properly label trays/crops
- Basic math skills
- Work well with others
- Must be energetic and be able to work long shifts with very little sitting
- Must be able to work in a standing position for 95% of a daily shift
- Must be able to bend and lift, using both arms repeatedly
- Must be able to grip, pinch and carry
- Must be able to utilize a tablet and stylus while counting / inspecting plants at various heights or positions
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Must be able to push/pull up to 800lb wheeled racks
- Must be able to perform tasks with arms raised above shoulder level
- Must be able to perform tasks on low ladders
- Must be able to work in adverse and uncomfortable weather and temperatures. This includes temperatures below freezing and temperatures above 100*F
- Must be able to walk across uneven terrain
