Job Summary
Report and write breaking news and enterprise stories on DC politics and government actions. Land interviews with power brokers, cover legislative battles, policy shifts, and key political figures, while breaking exclusive stories with fresh angles. Build and maintain a strong network of sources from lawmakers to campaign officials, staying on top of developments in real time to file timely, accurate copy. Use public records, FOIA requests, and social media to surface and verify stories, working closely with editors to produce fast coverage across digital and social platforms. Requires seven years of newsroom reporting experience with a focus on DC or political coverage, including White House and Congress reporting. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours is expected.
