Job Summary
Develop and engineer new warp knitted fabric constructions by translating design concepts into manufacturable textile solutions. Select appropriate fibers, yarns, and machine parameters to support product development from initial concept through sampling, testing, and production launch. Conduct fabric trials to evaluate appearance, hand feel, performance, and manufacturing feasibility, then analyze results to optimize warp knitting machine settings and processes. Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Sales, Quality, and Manufacturing teams while working with external suppliers to develop new materials and technologies. Troubleshoot technical issues related to fabric construction, raw materials, and machinery. Maintain accurate records of development trials and technical documentation. Research emerging textile technologies, fibers, and sustainable materials to identify opportunities for innovation and cost reduction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in warp knitting, textile product development, textile engineering, or textile manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of warp knitted fabric construction and manufacturing
- Understanding of yarn and fiber properties and their impact on fabric performance
- Experience with textile testing, product trials, and fabric development
- Experience working with textile machinery and manufacturing processes
Desired Qualifications
- Automotive textile or technical textile experience
- Experience working with yarn/fiber suppliers or textile machinery suppliers
