Job Summary
Conduct receiving, issuing, and inventory duties including verifying materials against documents, routing items to storage, and operating forklifts. Inspect received goods for damage and discrepancies, update location designators, and coordinate material consolidation for shipment. Process receipts and forms accurately, input data into computer systems, and assist customers with stock status inquiries. Participate in physical inventory counts, reconcile location surveys, and manage excess or obsolete material transfers.
Required Qualifications
- Capable of performing a variety of warehousing duties
- Ability to understand, develop and manage a storage plan
- Ability to verify materials against receiving documents
- Ability to note and report discrepancies and obvious damages
- Ability to route materials to prescribed storage locations
- Ability to store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods
- Ability to manage and take inventory of stored materials
- Ability to examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage
- Ability to remove material from storage and prepare it for shipment
- Ability to operate hand or power trucks
- Ability to operate forklifts
- Ability to verify NSN/part number, nomenclature, type, correct quantity
- Ability to ascertain compliance with contract, purchase agreement and stock catalogs
- Ability to verify National Stock Number (NSN)/Navy Item Control Number (NICN)/Local Item Control Number (LICN)/or Part Number (PN)
- Ability to verify Unit of Issue (U/I), JCN and quantity on the receipt document
- Ability to check material for damage and material discrepancies
- Ability to report discrepancies when required
- Ability to determine appropriate area for holding material
- Ability to ensure material is placed in the designed location
- Ability to certify accuracy of material received and issue validation
- Ability to coordinate the material receipt process
- Ability to properly store and stage material to assigned locations
- Ability to update the location designator
- Ability to select and assemble items for issue
- Ability to identify specific items from trade and ship names
- Ability to recommend appropriate substitutions
- Ability to coordinate the delivery of staged material
- Ability to ensure all forms are filled in correctly and signed by the customer
- Ability to process issues
- Ability to ensure job order numbers, reference numbers, and stock numbers are correct and accurate
- Ability to input data to the computer
- Ability to report problems to the government supervisor
- Ability to assist customers in locating appropriate material and determining stock status
- Ability to assist other employees with customer assistance
- Ability to assist with routine follow-up
- Ability to relocate and store materials
- Ability to clean up the work area
- Ability to track turnover items on hand
- Ability to recommend increases and decreases of stock
- Ability to coordinate with shop store inventory manager
- Ability to pull, stage, and return excess and obsolete material
- Ability to participate in the conduct and reconciliation of location surveys/physical inventories
- Ability to count type and quantities of items during inventories
- Ability to maintain tallies during the count
- Ability to recount or search other storage locations
- Ability to determine the basis for overages, shortages, or misplaced items
- Ability to check stock status information in issue request, receiving, shipping reports, and locator records
