Job Summary
Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to move goods and materials within the cold storage facility. Load and unload trucks, pallets, and containers safely. Conduct regular equipment inspections and maintain cleanliness and organization. Assist with inventory counts, stock rotation, and substitute for other operators when necessary. Communicate with team members to coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks. Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while working in temperatures ranging from 70 to -15 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintain a valid forklift operator certification and minimum 3 months' experience. This role is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement requiring union membership within 31 days of employment. Hours are Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, with overtime available for growth and seasonal demands.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- minimum of 3 months' forklift experience
- valid forklift operator certification
- good attendance record and work ethic
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities as needed
- physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (minimum of 40 lbs.) as required
- comfortable working in cold/freezing temperatures while wearing personal protective equipment and freezer gear
- ability to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays and/or Sundays
- ability to become members of the designated Union no later than the 31st day following their date of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with inventory management systems
- Fluency in both English and Spanish
