Warehouse Operational Technology Specialist

Job Summary
Provide technical solutions and recommendations to warehouse and maintenance management teams regarding refrigeration, automation, and maintenance systems. Lead support for automation and refrigeration systems, including installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance, while interpreting complex issues to offer practical solutions. Direct team members on projects and best practices, provide budgetary information for the Annual Operating Plan, and support the implementation of the technology roadmap across distribution centers. Coordinate system changes, approve third-party add-ons, and deliver consultation and reporting to all levels of management on system health and operations. Work standard hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, on a hybrid schedule (4 days in-office, 1 day remote) with up to 90% travel frequency supporting 27 North American distribution centers. Requires a valid passport for international travel to and from Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Industrial Technology
- A High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid passport for international travel (specifically to and from Canada)
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with a proven ability to manage workloads, schedules, and multiple projects independently
- Strong technical and mathematical problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues, interpret technical data (such as trend charts and calculation tables), and recommend practical solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports, manuals, and business correspondence, interpret complex instructions and diagrams, and effectively present info to diverse audiences
- Comprehensive knowledge of industrial systems—including PLC/PC microprocessor-based controls, Automated Material Handling (AMH), electrical distribution, hydraulics, electronics, database applications, and mechanical servicing—and their integration with refrigeration and facility systems
- Ability to provide technical solutions and recommendations to warehouse and maintenance management teams
- Ability to lead and advise on the support of automation and refrigeration systems, including installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance
- Ability to provide technical support to divisions as needed on an on-call basis
- Ability to interpret complex issues and communicate them effectively to management and teams to offer practical solutions and recommendations
- Ability to provide direction to team members regarding projects, operations, and best practices
- Ability to provide budgetary information as needed for divisional Annual Operating Plan (AOP) development
- Ability to provide budget performance data for technical and systems projects
- Ability to provide consultation, reporting, and recommendations to all levels of management regarding system health, improvements, and operations
- Ability to support and implement the technology roadmap associated with warehouse facilities, maintenance, and automation
- Ability to coordinate system changes, direct system usage, and approve third-party add-ons
- Ability to assist and support the North American (NA) Intralogistics Manager with implementing solutions across distribution centers (DCs)
- Must be available for weekend work (occasional weekend work may be required depending on project commissionings)
- Must be able to travel up to 90% (typically 3 weeks out of the month) supporting our 27 Distribution Centers across North America
Desired Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance
- An Associate degree in Industrial Technology, Ammonia Refrigeration, or a related field
- Specialized post-secondary training in PLCs, SQL, and Graphical HMI systems
