Job Summary
Oversee warehouse operations, logistics, and customs compliance for EarthScope-supported activities, including import/export/shipping, inventory management, and global equipment movements. Create and maintain procedures for warehouse safety, standard operating procedures, and compliance activities while ensuring accurate documentation and government property tracking. Supervise Warehouse Coordinator staff and part-time student workforce, coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors to optimize transportation strategies, and manage facility maintenance and housekeeping. Ensure adherence to US Customs and Border Protection regulations, OSHA standards, and trade laws through regular audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, logistics or related field
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in warehouse and inventory management
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in trade compliance and logistics
- Experience in tracking and reporting government and company property
- Mastery of inventory tools and their implementation
- Hazardous materials certification
- OSHA certification
- Lift Truck Operator certification
- In-depth understanding of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations (19 CFR)
- Expertise in Customs valuation and classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. and Canada
- Proficiency in addressing country of origin and marking issues
- Proficiency in record-keeping requirements
- Proficiency in other import/export compliance matters
- Experience working closely with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection
- Experience working closely with the Department of Commerce
- Working knowledge of international trade regulations, including customs laws, EAR, and ITAR
- Ability to prepare and interpret shipping and customs documentation with accuracy
- Familiarity with HTS classification, country of origin rules, valuation, and tariff structures
- Strong coordination skills for working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government agencies
- Ability to train others and transfer compliance knowledge effectively
- Work authorization to work and physically reside within the 50 United States
- Must be authorized to work
- Must be available for up to 50% travel through Sept 2026
- Must be available for up to 30% travel afterwards
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Lithium battery handling certification
- IATA certification
- Demonstrable knowledge of export control regulations
- Demonstrable knowledge of licensing requirements
- Demonstrable knowledge of international trade agreements
- Track record of conducting customs audits
- Track record of implementing corrective actions
- Track record of ensuring compliance with supply chain security programs such as C-TPAT
- Certification or advanced training in customs compliance, such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES)
